This article provides senior citizens with tips for finding grants online.
There are grants available for senior citizens who want to learn a new skill. The educational prospects for seniors are usually scholarships or grants. They may be researched online and by following and finding the state resided in, the availability will be listed for opportunities in that state. There may be training programs set up that seniors can attend. Check out the Area Agency on AgingGo online to Area Agency on Aging (AAA) which are available in many places in the U.S. This is one agency that has many options when it comes to education. The goal in providing this service to senior citizens is to allow them to remain active for several years past retirement age. Computer training is one of the courses that are made available to the senior set. Find a local AAA in the area by clicking on National Association of Area Agencies on Aging to find their website. By checking with United Way online opportunities will be shown as to what is available through them as well. Contact the AARPAnother foundation that offers job training free of cost to seniors is the AARP. Those who are on low income will qualify and this is found by searching the website at AARP. This service is partially funded with a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Labor. The service is for those who want to begin working or re-enter the job market with new skills. This is called the Senior Community Service Employment Program and there are over 70 in the U.S. This is accessible through the AARP website. Look for Women Senior Citizens GrantsThere are also grants available for women who are senior citizens. They are classified as a different type; not just senior citizen grants, but for minorities. The government has been trying to ensure that all people have the same access to education and it determined that women and minorities were not getting the same opportunities. This will allow women as well as senior citizens the opportunity for grants to re-enter the job market. These are found online on the grants.gov website. Other Tips for Finding Grants OnlineAnother organization that provides grants for women who want to re-enter the workforce and already have a BA but may want to change careers or advance furthering their field is the American Association of University Women or the AAUW. They may be found by accessing the AAUW website. The important thing when looking for the education needed to enter or re-enter the workforce is to research everything that can be found whether it is for seniors, women or senior women. The online sites are numerous and by sifting through all of these sites, the more opportunities there will be. Remember the sooner the search begins for the opportunities that are out there, the sooner the education can begin. There are also deadlines set by colleges and universities that must be adhered to if submitting an application soon is the goal. The failure to get them submitted in time will result in a delay in getting started at the school chosen.
